Ministry Highlight: Community Impact
We are for our neighbors!
A neighbor could be someone who is different than us, who is like us, who lives next door, who lives in a different part of the world, who agrees with us, or someone who doesn’t. A neighbor is anyone.
How are we there for our neighbors?
Community Impact is committed to investing in the lives of others by developing relationships and connecting with those in our community. Through our partnerships in Brownsburg and Indianapolis, our volunteers have developed relationships that have changed the lives of not only those being served, but also those serving.
The Holiday Project is designed to serve under-resourced families in our community. During the months of October, November and December, we partner with Brownsburg Community Schools and Clarence Farrington Elementary to serve 115 families, including 419 children. The families receive financial and material donations, including winter coats, food and Christmas assistance. Without the generous hearts of the congregation of Connection Pointe, none of this would be possible.
Every year, 115 people commit to be a family host for these families. A family host attends the three holiday events with the family and shows them care and Connection Pointe hospitality. Please click here for more information on becoming a family host.
In addition to The Holiday Project, there are other opportunities available for you to serve our neighbors. Through our partnership with Clarence Farrington Elementary, we have been able to launch Clarence Farrington University (CFU). With no after school programming available in the Eagledale community, CFU fills the gap by opening the doors of the elementary school in the evenings to provide opportunities for families to grow, learn and connect together.
There are several opportunities to get involved with Clarence Farrington University, including student and adult tutoring, Boy and Girl Scouts, Family Night, and the Resource Pantry. Please click here to get additional information and to sign up to serve.
One neighbor, one story:
Can you imagine being a single mom of three children, struggling to provide for basic needs? Amongst the struggle you are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. You have no family close by and no friends to call. What do you do? Who do you call for help?
This was the reality for Jessica and in her moment of hardship, she called upon the church. With a humble heart and overwhelming sense of defeat, Jessica requested help from Connection Pointe. Our church embraced this neighbor by providing her with the resources to help her through this difficult time. Jessica is receiving care not only through the Connection Pointe’s financial assistance program, but she is also a part of our partnership with Brownsburg Schools and participates in The Holiday Project. Jessica and her family have been connected with a small group that makes sure her freezer is stocked with healthy meals.
After being healed of her ovarian cancer, Jessica was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. She is continuing to receive love, care and support from Connection Pointe. Jessica is our neighbor and we will continue to be there for her each step of the way.
